TRINITY COLLEGE ONTARIANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT ACCESSIBILITY PLAN (ODA) 2007-2008
Schedule 4 of the ODA stipulates that “Every University in Ontario, and its affiliated and federated colleges, that receives operating grants from the Government of Ontario” is expected to submit an annual plan.
Trinity College does not receive operating grants. As a college federated with the University of Toronto, it appears to fall under the umbrella of the University’s ODA Plan and supports the initiatives outlined in their annual plan.
As a distinct entity, however, the College is responsible for its own buildings and its own staff and faculty.
Report on status of College initiatives undertaken in 2007-2008:

Initiative: Continue investigations into the installation of an elevator from the basement level to the second floor, Trinity main building

Status: Ongoing commitment; seeking funding.

Initiative: Investigate devise to assist users up the stairs into Strachan Hall.

Status: Under consideration.

Initiative: Investigate ways in which the College’s new web site may be made more accessible (e.g., type face, font size, Zoom text and audio capabilities).

Status: Ongoing commitment.

Initiative: Through the use of our monthly newsletter increase awareness and provide web addresses for further information.Status: Ongoing commitment.
In addition to the planned initiatives outlined in the 2006-2007 Plan, the following project was completed to address barriers in College buildings:
In addition, the College’s Board of Trustees formally adopted U of T’s “Statement of Commitment Regarding Persons with Disabilities” this year.
In the next twelve months, the following initiatives will be undertaken to remove barriers in our buildings:

Continue to investigate a device to assist users up the stairs into Strachan Hall.
