Admission to Residence

University of Toronto First Year Housing Guarantee

The University guarantees student housing to all full-time students entering their first year of university in an undergraduate program, whether they live outside or inside Toronto, who are offered admission by May 31st and who have indicated their interest in residence on their application for admission

Places at Trinity College are limited. Priority is given to incoming and returning Trinity College students. A typical room in the main Trinity Residence

The Rooms

  • Single rooms are available to a majority of students. Compared to other student residences, most of the rooms are quite spacious.
  • Senior students are guaranteed single rooms.
  • Each room is equipped with a phone. Click here to find out more about the residence phone system.
  • All of our residence rooms are completely wired for high speed internet connection. ResNet provides internet connection up to 30 times faster than most modems.
  • Rooms contain a bed, chest of drawers, mirror, desk and chair, bookcase, and easy chair. Residents must bring their own towels and linen.
  • Rooms are cleaned weekly.

The Food

  • All students in residence must participate in a meal plan. Students have the choice of 15 meals per week, 19 meals per week or 330 meals per year.
  • Food service is available in two dining halls: Melinda Seaman (St. Hilda's) and Strachan Hall (Trinity).  Each offers three selections including a vegetarian or vegan option.
  • Meals are ‘all you can eat’; both dining halls have self-serve salad bars; fresh fruit is available at every meal.
  • Bag meals and early dinners during the week are available if class or work prevents you from going to the dining halls during meal hours.
  • The College does all it can to accommodate special dietary needs, but may not be able to respond to all needs.  Please contact the Sodexho food service office (416-978-3862 or sodexho@trinity.utoronto.ca) before making a final decision on residence.
  • Residents can purchase additional meals for cash at the entrance to the dining halls, or supplementary meal plans and FLEX dollars at the Bursar's Office.
  • Click here for more information on food services.
  • The dining halls also serve commuting students. Every full-time Trinity student who does not live in residence is entitled to 10 free meals (5 free meals for part-time students).
  • Commuting students may purchase individual meals for cash at the entrance to the dining halls, or supplementary meal plans and FLEX dollars at the Bursar's Office.
  • Click Non-Res meals for more information on food services for commuting students.

Other Facilities

    • Computing facilities with access to e-mail are available in the St. Hilda's residence.
