The Archives is located in the basement of Owen House at the far northwest corner of the main Trinity building. If you are unfamiliar with the building please contact the Porter when you arrive at the College.
The Archivist provides reference service to the Trinity community and outside researchers by phone, email and personal visits. Researchers are asked to register, sign in and follow our Handling Guidelines.
The Archives is wheelchair accessible and a wheelchair-accessible washroom is located in the Gerald Larkin Academic Building. Please contact the Rolph-Bell Archivist to make arrangements for a wheelchair-accessible visit to the Archives.
Access
The corporate records of Trinity College that are in the Archives are restricted and subject to review under the provisions of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), which came into effect on 10 June 2006. Private records may be restricted in order to respect the wishes of the donors.
Copying Services
Requests for copies for the purpose of research and private study may be filled if there are no preservation, donor or legislative restrictions. Cost per page for photocopies of textual records is 50¢. Digital scanning is available for some records, at the discretion of the archivist. If a researcher wishes to use information from archival materials or reproductions for use other than for research and private study, permission of the copyright owner must be obtained. The Trinity College Archives may not hold copyright to all materials in its holdings. Researchers are responsible for obtaining and observing copyright law.
