  WHAT'S ON
A Feast Fit for St. Hilda
St. Hilda gained such a reputation for wisdom that even kings and princes sought her advice; yet, she also held concern for ordinary folk. All Trinity alumnae, regal or otherwise, will have a chance to raise a glass to their patroness at the College’s first Feast of St. Hilda, Monday, Nov. 13 in Cartwright Hall, St. Hilda’s College, 44 Devonshire Place. The always entertaining Bishop Ann E. Tottenham will educate us on the life of St. Hilda, and period music will be performed by Sine Nomine. Don your best medieval garb (or not) and join us for a banquet. Cocktails: 6.30 p.m.; dinner: 7.30 p.m. To purchase tickets ($25 per person), please call (416) 978-2707, or e-mail juliaparis@trinity.utoronto.ca

Keys to the Universe
Prof. Richard (Dick) J. Bond, director of U of T’s Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics, will deliver the Keys Lecture on Thursday, Oct. 26. He will illuminate us on: “The First Light in the Universe and Cosmic Evolution.” Prof. Bond is best known for his pioneering work on cosmic background radiation, the photon afterglow of the Big Bang. He has used the cosmic sound from the early universe to determine what the universe is made of (mostly dark matter and dark energy), its geometry, and the origin and evolution of cosmic structure. George Ignatieff Theatre, 15 Devonshire Place, 12 noon.
