  WHAT'S ON

LUCKY 13 AT THE G8
A record number of Trinity College students were among the group chosen to attend the 2007 G8 Summit in Heiligendamm, Germany in June. "Last year, nine students were from Trinity, and this year we have 13 out of 20," says Sadia Rafiquddin, fundraising co-director of the G8 Research Group, who will be entering her fourth year in international relations in September. The G8 Research Group is based at the Munk Centre for International Studies and brings together students and academics to study the activities of the G8 group of countries. Each year a select group of 20 U of T students, accredited as journalists for the summit, gathers, organizes and publicizes information and analysis on the proceedings. The students report on news and assist professional journalists by providing research and briefings. "It's extremely fast-paced," says Rafiquddin. "but it's a back door to an environment that I would never see otherwise." The group's web portal, G8Live.ca, hosts information generated by the students.
