Inspiring the Next Generation of Trinity Alumni

On November 2, we launched the first ConnecTRIN: Student-Young Alumni Networking Dinner! Twenty-six young alumni joined us for community High Table to connect with students. Following dinner, alumni participated in speed-networking with more than 50 students. Alumni shared their career journeys and experiences about life after Trinity with students, and they also had an opportunity to network and reconnect with fellow alumni.

ConnecTRIN is an exciting new pilot initiative planned for three Wednesday High Table dinners this year. The initiative is strategically designed to provide current students the opportunity to connect with Trinity grads from the last 10 years for career-support and mentorship. These events have been set up to facilitate casual interaction and sharing of insight and knowledge in a variety of key fields and areas.

“I really enjoyed speaking to students about their hopes for the future. I found the students had really thoughtful questions and a couple have added me on LinkedIn so hopefully we can keep speaking,” one of the alumni mentors said.

Another alum said: “It was a great opportunity to impart wisdom to current student leaders about challenges that we faced when we were in similar positions.”

The initiative is part of a broader umbrella plan under development to enhance the student experience and alumni engagement, which is a key goal of Trinity’s Strategic Plan. Leveraging the strengths of Trinity’s alumni network, this initiative provides students robust co-curricular programming focused on mentorship and career-related supports.

The next ConnecTRIN is scheduled for January 25, 2017: Careers in Media & the Arts. The final event for the year is scheduled for March 1, 2017: Business & Professional Etiquette. Stay tuned for registration details (alumni invitations will be sent through the Office of Development & Alumni Affairs while students are invited by the Office of the Dean of Students).

Thank you to all our attendees for making ConnecTRIN a success!
