Dear Members of the Trinity Community:

As my second and final term as U of T’s Chancellor comes to a close, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for generously contributing to Trinity College and the University of Toronto.

There have been many exciting new developments on our three campuses since I began my term six years ago, but our purpose remains the same. We are dedicated to fostering an academic community in which learning and scholarship flourish.

The transformative power of your philanthropy is crucial to our purpose. Your generosity gives support to the many students who receive financial aid, and provides the life-changing learning opportunities—such as studying abroad—that might otherwise be out of reach for our many bright scholars.

Your support also fuels important research initiatives across U of T. Mental health is an issue that matters a great deal to me, and I am very encouraged to see the incredible advances our researchers are making towards understanding and treating mental illness both on our campuses and in our communities.

As I prepare to embark on the next chapter of my life, I would like to thank you once more for making great things possible. There are more challenges to meet, more discoveries to make, and more ways to better our world. Thank you again for all your contributions to the University of Toronto. It has been an honour to serve this magnificent institution.

Sincerely,

Hon. Michael H. Wilson, BComm 1959 TRIN, LLD 2005
