Michael Ratcliffe

APRIL 2013. As announced on April 11, 2013 by the Chair of the Board of Trustees, Professor Michael Ratcliffe has been appointed as Interim Provost for Trinity College effective October 1, 2013 until June 30, 2014.  Professor Michael Ratcliffe was appointed to the position of Vice-Provost and Dean of Arts at Trinity College as of July 1, 2012 and has a long history with Trinity as a Fellow and academic faculty.

Michael Ratcliffe is Professor of Immunology at the University of Toronto. He was appointed Vice-Provost and Dean of Arts for a six-year term in 2012. As dean of Arts, he is responsible for the College’s academic program in the Faculty of Arts and Science of the University of Toronto.

Dean Ratcliffe teaches primarily in the Department of Immunology, coordinating the core third year Introductory Immunobiology course and his principal research interests focus on the regulation of lymphocyte development. In his previous position as Chair of the Department of Immunology, University of Toronto, Professor Ratcliffe was instrumental in the expansion of the Immunology graduate and undergraduate programs and the development of partnerships with the affiliated Toronto Hospital Research Institutes.

He received his B.Sc. from the University of Glasgow and his Ph.D. from the University of London. He has been President of the Canadian Society for Immunology and the Canadian Federation of Biological Societies.
