The Master of Theology (ThM) degree is intended for advanced and specialised theological study beyond the basic degree level. This program deepens students’ theological knowledge and further prepares them for doctoral study or pastoral ministry. To accomplish this, two options for the ThM program are offered: Option I (six courses plus thesis) can serve as preparation for some forms of teaching or for doctoral study; Option II (eight courses plus an extended essay), does not qualify a student for doctoral study, but provides opportunities for the scholarly enhancement of the practice of ministry or disciplined reflection on a specialised function in ministry. Trinity College and the University of Toronto offer the degree jointly. Length: The normal maximum is six years.
