Nelson De Melo: Registrar & Director of Student Services at Trinity College

Trinity College is pleased to announce that Nelson De Melo will be taking on a new role as Registrar & Director of Student Services effective immediately.

Nelson DeMeloThe new role is designed to move forward Trinity’s commitment to strengthening the student experience with a focus on the student-related priorities identified in the College’s strategic plan.

“We are extremely fortunate to have Nelson, a trusted, respected and compassionate leader, take on the vital role of enhancing the student experience at Trinity. His student-centred approach, along with his institutional knowledge and experiences, will help advance the College’s goal of supporting our students’ academic and personal success and well-being,” said Trinity College Provost Mayo Moran.

Nelson will continue to lead the team in the Registrar’s Office and will work with other student services offices including the Dean of Students, the Dean of Arts and the Bursar, along with the Faculty of Divinity, the Graham Library, the Assistant Provost and others to provide strategic leadership in the long-term planning, coordination, development and evaluation of student services at Trinity.

“While Trinity is already a campus leader in student services, I’m looking forward to working closely with students and staff to explore a more integrated service delivery model so we can improve the services we offer and provide the very best experience for all our students,” Nelson said.

In October 2017, Nelson will celebrate 20 years with Trinity College. During this time he has held several positions in the Office of the Registrar, most recently as Registrar as of January 1, 2012. In 2016, Nelson was appointed co-chair of the Faculty of Arts & Science Business Process Reengineering Project Team to lead a review of the FAS application and admissions processes, one of the Faculty’s most significant projects.
