Trinity’s New Student Services Centre Construction Update

Posted: August 10, 2018

Construction Update: Monday, August 27 | Work Continues & New Location for Mail Room

The temporary Welcome Desk has been set up in the front hall. The majority of the noisy demolition work in the phase of this project has been completed.

Mail-boxes have been relocated from the old Porter’s Lodge to a new mail room in the lower level of the main building, under Strachan Hall and near the Reservations Office. Welcome Desk staff will run the mail program and receive packages.

The Coinamatic machine has also been relocated to the laundry room in the lower level of Cosgrave house.

Construction Update: Monday, August 20 | Demolition Activity & Temporary Welcome Desk

Today, the rest of the hoarding will go up along the front hall between the Porter’s Lodge and the Chapel. Demolition work on the Porter’s Lodge will also start this week. A temporary Welcome Desk will be created in the foyer of the main building.

For the next couple of weeks, there will be a sizable crew on-site for the demolition work in the interior spaces of the Porter’s Lodge and former Bursar’s Office. The main hallway to the West door will be busy as the crew moves debris to the disposal bins outside of the West door.

The general contractor will ensure the hallway is kept clean and the removal of debris is done in a safe way. Installation of negative air pressure units will help mitigate dust in the construction spaces.

It is expected to be noisy for the next few days – thank you for your understanding.

Construction Update: Friday, August 10 | New Student Services Centre and the Bursar’s Office

We wanted to provide you with an update on the progress of the new Student Services Centre that will be located in the front hall of the main Trinity building (6 Hoskin Ave).

As we prepare for the construction phase, hoarding should be going up in the front hall shortly, with demolition of the interior office spaces between the Trinity College Chapel and the Porter’s Lodge beginning on Monday, August 13. The front hallway will remain open and the elevator beside the Chapel will be available throughout the project.

Once demolition begins, we will move the Porter’s Lodge functions to a temporary Welcome Desk in the foyer of the main building.

The Bursar’s Office has now moved to the lower level of Cosgrave house (the residence wing on the north side of the Quad) in the main Trinity building. Directions to the Bursar’s Office:

Proceed down the north staircase at the back of Strachan Hall. At the bottom of the stairs, turn left and the Bursar’s Office is through the hallway on the right.

For accessible access: use the elevator in the Gerald Larkin Building, select B. Proceed through the double doors and continue down the hallway. Take the first left (south of the Facilities Office) for the hallway to the Bursar’s Office.

As part of Trinity’s campus revitalization plan, the new Student Services Centre will bring key student services such as the Registrar’s Office and the Dean of Students Office together into one space. A one-stop-shop, the Centre will provide a more accessible experience for students and a warmer welcome for all campus visitors. Learn more about the new Student Services Centre!
