Chancellor Bill GrahamAt the Trinity College Spring Meeting of Corporation, Professor Mayo Moran was reappointed for a second term as Provost and Vice-Chancellor of Trinity College, and Chancellor William C. Graham’s current third term was extended.

Andrew McFarlane, Chair of the Board of Trustees, presented two motions at Corporation on April 25, 2019: the reappointment of the Provost for a further five-year term and the appointment extension of the Chancellor for a one-year term. Proclaimed by Chancellor Graham and Bishop Bedford-Jones, respectively, both motions were carried unanimously by members of Corporation.

“We are so pleased to have Provost Moran and Chancellor Graham continue on in their leadership roles at the College. Their unanimous approval by the Board and Corporation are testaments to their outstanding leadership and the incredible contributions they have made to the Trinity community,” said alumnus Andrew McFarlane on behalf of the Board.

“I am delighted and honoured to be able to continue the work we are doing at the College,” Provost Moran said. “Our students are truly outstanding and we are all dedicated to ensuring that they flourish and reach their full potential. The Trinity community is exceptional and I am privileged to be entrusted with guiding it.”

As Trinity’s 15th Provost, Professor Moran’s Strategic Plan – People, Program and Place – has shaped the priorities at the College. Focusing on enhancing the student experience and supporting the whole student, her leadership has resulted in marked progress on many fronts. These include improving health and wellness and mental health supports for students, creating a central and coordinated hub for student services (Trinity’s new Student Services Centre opens fall 2019) and establishing new academic programs (such as the Butterfield Environment & Sustainability stream in the Margaret MacMillan Trinity One Program and the new Master’s program in Contemporary International History). Provost Moran is also spearheading Trinity College’s new building project, which will provide critical residential, academic and common spaces for our students and community. Provost Moran’s first term ends on June 30, 2019, and her second term extends from July 1, 2019 until June 30, 2024.

With the Provost’s reappointment review process taking place over the 2018-2019 academic year, Chancellor Graham graciously offered to extend his current term of office for another year, until April 30, 2020. Since 2007, Chancellor Graham has been serving as the College’s highest-ranking volunteer officer. In the course of the next academic year, the search for the College’s next Chancellor will begin.

“Bill Graham is an exemplary Chancellor and Canadian, and a true global citizen. He not only serves with wisdom and grace, he is extraordinarily generous in so many ways – with his time, energy and philanthropy. He has supported so many critical initiatives at Trinity, at the University and beyond – and we are eternally grateful for his commitment and support,” Provost Moran said. “He is an inspiration to so many of us, and we are so honoured to have him as serve our 12th Chancellor.”
