Swanee Douglas

Neuroscience, Mathematics

My name is Swanee and I am a fourth year student studying neuroscience and mathematics. I grew up in Toronto and have worked for four summers doing medical biophysics research in Sunnybrook’s Focused Ultrasound Lab. More recently, I spent the past summer doing research in the Focused Ultrasound Lab at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. I am fascinated by the potential of using ultrasound for non-invasive therapy in the brain and spine. This exciting work has led me to author/ co-author abstracts and present at international conferences. Within U of T, I completed a full year Research Opportunities Program (ROP) course in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology department. I also enjoy helping with the garden and various projects run by the Food Systems Lab at Trinity. Receiving incredible mentorship over the past few years has led me to become a Trinity One Mentor and Academic Peer Advisor. I’d be delighted to chat about navigating lab experiences as well as identifying and applying for research positions, funding and scholarships. Beyond academics, I enjoy exploring the city with the U of T Run Club, listening to live music, and learning new languages. I am excited to meet and mentor Trinity students this year!
