On May 7, Trinity College held our 2019 Divinity Convocation Ceremony and we celebrated with 17 graduates of the Class of 2019. A human rights champion and dedicated alumnus also received honorary degrees from Trinity College.

Provost Mayo Moran welcomed guests and graduands and addressed the Convocation. University of Toronto Chancellor Rose Patten also brought greetings from the university to the graduating class.

Divinity Convocation 2019 Honorees with the Provost and Chancellor in the ChapelAt the ceremony, The Hon. William C. Graham (photo: right) conferred honorary degrees to the Rev’d Nadim Nassar and John H. Whiteside (read their bios).

Trinity alumus John H. Whiteside (photo: second on left) received the honorary degree of Doctor of Sacred Letters (honoris causa), and was presented by Catherine Graham and hooded by Christine Suttcliffe.

The Rev’d Nadim Nassar (photo: second on right) received the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa), and was presented by James Appleyard and hooded by the Very Rev. Andrew Asbil. The Rev’d Nassar also addressed the Convocation.

At the end of Fr. Nassar’s inspirational remarks, he left this final message to the graduating class: “Congratulations to all of you! Together let us keep the flame of passion, hope and love burn in our hearts and lives so we can make a difference in the world of difference.”

The evening also provided an opportunity to recognize the first, second and third year prize-winners, and to present the Integrity Award to Michael Coren and Robert William Walker, and the Governor General’s Silver Medal for Highest Standing Overall to Patricia Brace.
