Dear Members of the Trinity College Community:

As the 2021-2022 academic year comes to a close, I wanted to congratulate our students, faculty and staff for a successful year notwithstanding all of the challenges, and to extend a special thank you to our alumni, volunteers and friends for their continued support of the College.

COVID-19 has continued to affect our daily lives – at school, at home and at work. But despite everything, we got through another strange pandemic-year together. I believe that that’s a direct testament to the strength of the Trinity community. You have persevered with grace, resilience and creativity. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we pivoted back-and-forth between in-person and online learning and activities this year. Thank you for making positive contributions to the community, for your generosity that has allowed us to continue to respond to our students’ needs, and for caring for one another during these challenging times.

Although you will hear from me again in early June with a round-up of the 2021-2022 academic year and important College updates, I wanted to extend a warm congratulations to our Class of 2022. We are so proud of you! Many of you completed the majority of your studies during the pandemic. Although you may not forget these COVID-years for some time, I hope your experiences were also filled with memorable moments, accomplishments, friendships and joy. We look forward to where your journey takes you and we welcome you to our alumni community.

We’re so excited to hold our first in-person convocation in years, with our Faculty of Divinity Convocation 2022 on Tuesday, May 10. We will also confer Honorary Degrees upon alumna Mary Kitagawa (Class of 1959) and The Right Rev’d Susan Bell. Although attendance will be limited for the in-person event, we are pleased to provide a live-stream of the ceremony – join us online on May 10 at 3 pm ET to celebrate with our outstanding graduates and honorees.

U of T’s June 2022 Convocation for our Arts & Science students will be held on Wednesday, June 22 at 2:30 pm at Convocation Hall (more details will be shared in the coming weeks).

And for those who graduated in recent years or many decades ago, I hope you will join us at Trinity Reunion 2022: May 25 to 29. With a mix of activities from virtual experiences and lectures to socials, and special events for the honoured years, there will be something for everyone! Visit our reunion webpage for a list of events.

For our spring graduands, I hope to see you at convocation. For those returning in September, have a wonderful and restful summer. Until my next community message in June, I wish you all the best. Please stay safe and well.

Yours truly,

Mayo Moran
Provost & Vice-Chancellor
