Economics and security are now joined in ways that are creating new challenges and contradictions. Trade decisions have security consequences, and artificial intelligence has major implications for economics and security.

Belzberg Professor of Conflict Management, Department of Political Science, University of Toronto
Janice Gross Stein is the Belzberg Professor of Conflict Management and the founding director of the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a member of the Order of Canada and the Order of Ontario. Her current research focuses on technology and public policy in the context of great power competition.
