Friends of the Library

*The Annual Friends of the Library Book Sale, scheduled for October 2021, has been cancelled due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions and the continued closure of campus buildings to non-current University of Toronto community members.

When we have more information about the 2021/2022 campus reopening, we will keep everyone updated about the possibility of small pop-up sales and other Friends of the Library Events.

We look forward to returning to campus once it is safe to begin planning the sale for 2022! Thanks to our loyal patrons for your ongoing support.

The Trinity College Friends of the Library, founded in November 1975, is open to all who support the objectives and programs of the John W. Graham Library. The Friends raise funds to support the library through a spectacular book sale held every October in Seeley Hall at Trinity College. Thanks the generosity of our many book donors and the interest of our valued customers, the annual revenue in recent years has consistently reached or exceeded $120,000.

How to Join the Friends

Membership is by donation with a suggested minimum of $25 per year. By joining the Friends of the Library, you will receive:

  • A tax receipt for your donation
  • Invitations to Friends of the Library literary events throughout the year (Virtual events for 2021)
  • Trinity, the alumni magazine of Trinity College
  • Volunteer opportunities throughout the year with an active and collegial group (Currently limited to the executive)



When joining online, please note that it is essential to state under Designation* that your payment is for a Friends of the Library Membership. If you do not, the amount will be entered as a general donation to Trinity and you will not be a member of the Friends.

* Designation: Please read the following instructions carefully before donating.

  1. Donate online through Trinity College’s secure donation site.
  2. Enter all required contact information.
  3. In the drop-down menu under Designation, you must select the option “Other, please specify in special instructions.
  4. In the text box below designation, enter >Friends of the Library – Membership.
  5. Under Payment Information select the amount you wish to give (any amount may be entered at the bottom), enter your credit card information, click on Continue and complete the form.

By Mail

  1. Download and fill out the following TrinFOTLMembership.pdf
  2. A cheque payable to TRINITY COLLEGE
  3. Send to completed form and cheque to the following mailing address:

In Person

  1. Download and fill out the following TrinFOTLMembership.pdf
  2. Leave the completed form and cheque payable to TRINITY COLLEGE at the Circulation Desk at the John W. Graham Library at 3 Devonshire Place (East House in the Munk School of Global Affairs). The staff will forward it to the Treasurer of the Friends of the Library.
