Chancellor Graham was an academic before he was a politician, and knew that the records he generated would be valuable for researchers in the future. First elected as a member of Parliament in 1993, he served as the chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of National Defence, and Leader of the Opposition before retiring from politics in 2007. Chancellor Graham was also an active and vocal proponent of equal rights for same-sex couples, and his papers reflect his legislative work to champion them in Parliament.

The Graham fonds is now available to researchers and will be invaluable for people interested in Canadian and international politics during the 1990s and 2000s. Some records may be temporarily restricted due to ongoing processing, and access will be determined by the archivist on a case-by-case basis. Please contact archives@trinity.utoronto.ca to schedule a research consultation.
