Posted: October 15, 2019

Established in 1989, the Arbor Award is a U of T-wide honour designed to recognize alumni volunteers, as well as friends of the university who have generously committed their time to improve the experience of students, faculty, alumni and staff.

This year, four exceptional members of the Trinity community received Arbor Awards. Congratulations to our newest award recipients: Maggie Helwig, Jennifer Hood, Ann James and Charles Wall.

MAGGIE HELWIG: Maggie is a regular celebrant for Divinity services at Trinity. She has led two Volunteer Society meal programs for the homeless and marginally-housed, and is an organizer of the annual ‘Faith, Arts, and Activism’ festival, as well as Trinity’s refugee sponsorship program.

JENNIFER HOOD: Jenn is a member of the Trinity College Board of Trustees, and former Alumni Year Representative for the class of 2006. She has served as Chair of the St. Hilda’s College Board of Trustees, where she was involved with the creation of the St. Hilda’s Leadership Awards.

ANN JAMES: Ann is a member-at-large of the Trinity College Friends of the Library Executive and has helped organize the Trinity Book Sale for the past twenty years. She volunteers each week in the Library’s Sorting Room, helping process the books for sale.

CHARLES WALL: Charles has been a Friends of the Library Book Sale volunteer for more than 25 years. He has helped recruit and organize alumni volunteers, supervise shifts, and manage the Sale’s cash operations. He also volunteers throughout the year in the Library’s Sorting Room.
